Tally Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

Tally ("the app") is made by Joseph Porschart ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information Tally collects, how it's used, and your choices.

Information Tally collects

Tally is built to keep your data on your own device by default. The app may ask for the following permissions, only to power the features below:

How face recognition works

Face matching used in the Identify flow is performed on your device against the photos you've saved in Tally. We do not upload your photos to a server for the purpose of face recognition.

Where your data lives

Your regulars, establishments, notes, and photos are stored locally on your device. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Subscriptions

If you purchase a Tally Premium subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive confirmation that a purchase was made so we can unlock Premium features, but payment details (card numbers, etc.) are handled entirely by Apple/Google and never seen by us.

Child safety reporting

Tally includes an in-app form to report suspected child safety concerns. If you submit a report, the details you provide (and any attachments you include) are sent securely to our backend so the report can be reviewed and, where required by law, escalated to the appropriate authorities. We retain report data only as long as necessary for review and legal compliance.

Your choices

You can deny or revoke any of the permissions above in your device settings at any time; the related feature will simply be unavailable. You can delete your data by deleting the items within the app or uninstalling the app.

Children's privacy

Tally is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
